Tony Lacerda
Executive Director
Antonio Lacerda, born in Brazil known also as Tony Lacerda is a pastor, missionary and a church planter. He has a BA in Pastoral Studies and a Master’s in Transcultural Studies. He has been working with WEC International for more than 30 years.
For 26 years, he worked in Western and Southern Africa, as a church planter and a Project Manager where he established the Elohim Project and the Bread & Life Project respectively. In the past 16 years in Mozambique, besides the Bread & Life Project, he established the Living Bread churches, which is a fellowship of more than 30 churches and reopened the work of WEC Mozambique after 35 years since it was closed down.
As the director of Global Missions Ireland, he oversees all the missions activates in Ireland and abroad. He is married to Joyce and they have two daughters. Tony has a passion for missions since he became a Christian and he has dedicated his life to missions since then.
Shane Heaphy
Missions Secretary
Shane Heaphy was born and raised in Maseru, Lesotho. At a young age, the decision was made for Shane to move to Ireland for a safer and better lifestyle. He grew up in Ireland and at the age of sixteen found God.
Since then he has had a passion for serving people and was later on involved in the youth ministry at his local church. After finishing secondary school, he enrolled in the bible college, Ireland School of Ministry, and through this, he became more involved with Missions. After this, he has been serving in his church and has now become the Missions Secretary.
Jurijs Janovics (Yuri)
International Projects Coordinator
Jurijs Janovics, is a local businessman and committed Christian, born in Latvia, who has been living in Ireland for a number of years. He is married and has four children. Since a young age, Yuri has been involved with youth work and has volunteered in a Youth Centre in Latvia for many years.
Being a very adventurous person with a gift of getting others involved with social causes and joining with teams to go to different parts of the world, Yuri became our International Projects Coordinator.
Frank Heaphy
Hands & Feet Outreach Coordinator
Frank Heaphy was born and raised in Zimbabwe, Africa. At an early age, he had to move to South Africa with his family. Whilst living in South Africa he moved to Lesotho where he met his Irish wife and started a family there. It was at this point, they had decided the best option was to move back to Ireland.
After Living in Ireland for a few years, he had found his calling from God to serve in Ireland. Now he is a deacon of Cork Church and has become the Homeless Ministry Coordinator. Every week he leads a team of people to meet the needs of the homeless people of Cork, whether physical or spiritual.
Teka Duraes
Missions Event Coordinator
Marcene Duraes, also known as Teka, is a Brazilian born Missions Event Coordinator that has championed social causes and charity work for over the years. She is married and has moved to Ireland due to her husband’s work. At the moment she is finishing her theological studies and has a passion for missions.
When she first arrived in Ireland, Teka decided to take a beautician course and through that was inspired to organize a beauty day for missions, raising money for social causes in different countries. Through this Beauty Day was born.
Beauty Day is a very successful event, where we gather skilled beauticians like hairstylists, eyebrow shapers, manicurists and those who provide facials. These beauticians volunteer their time for a day to raise money for missions. People from different walks of life come together to receive top quality treatment and enjoy a very warm and friendly atmosphere, while tea, coffee and cakes are served throughout the day.
